Coghead... Simple is Powerful   The Challenge:

When Paul McNamara of Red Hat fame went looking for a company name for his new venture, he went no further than the bright idea workshop here at Tungsten. What Paul had was a web 2.0 application builder with the potential to revolutionize the way people use the internet. The product offered a platform for easily creating web-based programs and applications with little or no programming skills. So the playing field would be evened. Success would no longer depend on having the best programming skills, but instead, having the best ideas.

What Paul wanted most was to create a grassroots, almost cult-like following of empowered individuals who could take their ideas quickly and efficiently to market. So Tungsten went tinkering with names that conveyed die hard devotion. And what fan is more committed than a "head".

"Head" you ask?

Yes. Head. As in Dead Head. Parrot Head. Ditto Head. The English nomenclature has adopted this penchant for calling the most devoted of devotees "______ heads". So with that piece in place, it was simply a matter of describing these "heads."

Many of them are currently laboring thanklessly in dead end jobs, doing things that can seem rather menial. In essence we've all felt this from time to time, some more than others. It's this sense of being a "cog" in the big machine of life. So we took this rather pejorative term and turned it on its "head" by making it a call to arms. To be a Coghead is to step out of the machine and join the revolution. It means creating and ideating on your own, or with the collaboration of other virtual Cogheads. The possibilities were endless.

The other "cog" feature is that the platform offers the ability for different programs and applications to fit with each other. So it opens the door to connecting with others and sharing data and working collaboratively.

So if you have an idea, but not a lot of programming skills, you now qualify to be a Coghead! Just another bright idea from the illuminated naming labs at Tungsten Brand Marketing!
